It's been awhile...

Hey everyone,

welcome back to my blog. I know it's been HALF A YEAR?! Holy shit! Anyway, it's been a while since I last updated here, but I really just wanted to let you guys know that this thing is going to become a lot more useful to both of us over the coming weeks.

I'm going to be going back to school, if all goes well, in just under two weeks' time. As a result, I won't really be able to update you guys over video as much as I would like. Therefore, I will be publicizing this blog a lot more, so you guys can keep up with me on a regular basis. Even though you won't get to hear my sexy voice...

Going for some sort of local recognition or something!

Hey everyone, so this is pretty much my first blog post in awhile where I am talking about channel direction.

Over the past couple of months, I have secretly been daydreaming about my level of success. Now don't get me wrong, I am really pleased with how successful I have become, but I think that I could probably do a better job by reaching out to people who are a little bit closer to home.

What I am thinking is that I would like to find out how many PokeTubers are from British Columbia, and then expand kind of to Western Canada, and then Canada as a whole.

Especially considering I will be free to drive and travel when I want once I graduate, I will be able to come to see what kinda stuff is going on elsewhere in BC, and establish some friendships with good old BC players! I know that there are a few people I have met who are from BC, but some of them seem relatively young. That's not a problem, because I'm all for helping out people who aren't doing to well and need a bit of endorsement, but I what I would really like is to connect with people who are my age, like 16-19, who are ambitious about the card game, whatever their preference, be it collecting or playing competitively.

And besides, how cool would it be to get a hometown visit from a successful PokeTuber? Seriously though, I bet it would be a fun experience. (Disclaimer has to ruin it though. I'm not going to travel to northern BC in the middle of January to meet you guys.)

ANYWAY, I hope people will go to my channel, and either comment on it, or PM me, and tell me if you're from BC! I'd really love to meet some of you guys sometime, and promote your channel, and all of that good stuff!

Pokemon Case Bust ~ First on YouTube?

So if you checked out the links I posted to Yugioh case busts, you'll have seen that it's a pretty sleek, and successful, idea. Now mine will clearly be on a much lower scale, such as only one case, instead of two.

Anyway, here is what you need to know. The general cost of entry and shipping will remain about the same, except with US and Canadian shipping costs inverted, considering I live in Canada. Also, the currency you send must be Canadian. (Now, Paypal will handle this for you, but if you send cash, you must get it exchanged before sending it.)

I will retain the $20 entry fee used in the Yugioh giveaways. This fee gives you 1 slot, and guarantees you 6 booster packs of whatever the set is (which means a slot, and 6 $3.30 booster packs). In addition to this fee, you must cover a shipping cost depending on where you live.

Shipping to Canada will be $3
To the USA will be $5
And Internationally will be $8

As with the Yugioh case busts, you only have to pay the shipping fee once, but you can buy as many entries as you like. So if you want a full booster box, you would pay 6 times (6 entries x 6 packs per entry = 36 packs), which would equal CDN$123 to Canada, CDN$125 to the USA, or CDN$128 Internationally, which is more or less how much a box would cost if you were to buy it online anyway :P

Now, as for the case itself. I would like to make it easy on you guys and say that it will be a case of Undaunted, since it is the cheapest case, however, I want you guys to have a choice, so I will give you one.

So these will be the three cases you guys can choose from. Now, if Noble Victories were to be chosen, I would require more entries, and therefore more money than I would with Undaunted. However, I have left it completely up to you guys, so as long as you WANT to participate, it doesn't matter what the case will be :D

On to the prizes. You guys know I wouldn't just force you all into pooling in for a case. And besides, a case bust is a giveaway, so I am preparing prizes. Among other things, there will be all sorts of Primes, playable cards (Gothitelle, Kyurem, Zekrom, Reshiram), full arts, and tons of other cool stuff to give away! Now, I don't have a readily available source of other things like t-shirts or playmats, but it will all be worth it.

Serpebi ~ Serperior Ability + Celebi Prime (Shitty NU deck)

That's right, I referred to those cards as NU. What are you going to do about it?

I'm building this deck cause I want to have something for locals when I go there in the new year sometime. This deck is going to suck nuts, but I don't really care, because I just want to check out the competitive scene, and get a player ID and shit like that. (I kinda want to take the Professor Program exam)

CARD REVIEW 09/19/11 - Light Arcanine (NEO DESTINY 12/105)

ARTWORK:
Let me start off by saying that Light Arcanine's artwork is one of my favourites in the TCG. It displays a gentle grace that you would have come to expect from both Arcanine and the Light series of Pokemon. The stylistic roses in the background, hidden behind the holofoil are very subtle, but prominent.

STATS:
Light Arcanine follows the path set for Light Pokemon, with its seemingly less harmful attacks. Its Pokemon Power, Drive Off, is literally the more aggressive of the two techniques this card can use, as it allows you to force your opponent to switch the Defending Pokemon with one of their Benched Pokemon. Gentle Flames, requiring 2 Fire and 1 Colorless Energy, is as intimidating as it sounds. Base 50 damage, but Baby Pokemon only take 10 damage from this attack, and Basic Pokemon take 30. This attack is best used on your opponent's Stage 1's and 2's, in order to utilize full power.

A Water weakness is standard for Fire Pokemon. Light Arcanine has no resistance, and costs 2 Energies to retreat. I think that with Light Pokemon, being the cute and cuddly forms that they are, should probably have defaulted to 1 Energy to retreat, but since Arcanine is a large Pokemon, they felt that the retreat cost should be "proportional," for lack of a better term.

PLAYABILITY:
Light Arcanine would be neutral against decks that run a lot of Stage 1's and 2's, but its real skill comes in its Pokemon Power. Drive Off is great for forcing your opponent to pull out those lower level Pokemon, and even though Gentle Flames would only do 30 to a basic, your opponent would have to pay the R/C for their new Basic which now has 30 damage on it, or you may have even knocked it out by weakness.

And though it is very rare to see decks like this, a deck running a lot of Basic's could potentially fend it off, although I don't believe Pokemon in the old days had Fire resistances. So if you could keep cycling your Pokemon quickly, play a lot of Potions and such, you could stack Energies to a Stage 1 or 2, and get a quick hit on Light Arcanine.

OVERALL:
Light Arcanine is a very good card, and I believe I would run at least 2 in a Light deck, if I played back in the Neo format. Great artwork, very playable effects. The only drawback is the effect of Gentle Flames, and that could be negated by playing a Plus Power.
